Old Stadium Facts
The original stadium was built in just 185 days with approximately 500 workers.
The first game played in the original stadium was against the Boston Red Sox with 74,200 people in attendance
The "old" stadium hosted 37 World Series and 100 World Series games were played there
The last game in the original stadium was played against the Baltimore Orioles and the last home run hit in the stadium was by Yankees catcher Jose Molina.
Out With The Old - In With The New
Its always sad to see a piece of history get replaced by something bigger and better but, unfortunately that's life sometimes. The "new" stadium however, does pay plenty homage to the "old" stadium and everyone who helped make this franchise what it is today.

The Great Hall is a space in the stadium that can hold approximately 1,500 people. The Hall is complete with vaulted ceilings and larger than life pictures of some of the greatest Yankees to play the game.
The stadium is even equipped with a museum dedicated to all things Yankees. From all 7 Commissioner's Trophies from the World Series wins to 840 baseballs signed by former players, managers, coaches and even broadcasters.

Greatest Of All Time?
It is the never ending question or statement in all of sports who is or isn't the greatest and honestly we all have our own opinions.
Yankee Stadium has a nickname, "The House that Ruth Built" and rightfully so, Babe Ruth was an amazing player and without a doubt one of the best of all time.
However, I'm from a different era and I assume everyone else reading this blog is as well. So I'm going to end this stadium tour with a video of the most influential baseball player of the past few decades and that is Derek Jeter.
I remember where I was when I watched Jeter play his last game, I gave him a standing ovation in my living room and shed a tear. RE2PECT.
