Home of the Duke Blue Devils and one of the biggest college basketball programs in the NCAA.

Cameron Background Info:

  • Location: Durham, North Carolina - Duke University

  • Address: 115 Whitford Dr

  • Opened: January 6, 1940

  • Capacity: 9,314

  • Who's Cameron?: Original plans for the stadium were configured by Duke coach Eddie Cameron (1928-1942)

Super Stats:

  • Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski, better known as "Coach K" has the most wins as a college basketball coach of ALL. TIME.

  • Duke has one of the fiercest rivalry's in all of college basketball with University of North Carolina (UNC) and has been going strong since the early 80s

  • The average ticket price for the Duke vs UNC game this season was $1,930.60.

  • UNC leads Duke in rivalry wins 138-111

  • Sports Illustrated has ranked Cameron Indoor Stadium the toughest college basketball venue to play in

Cameron Crazies

When it comes to Duke basketball fans they do not mess around. In fact they call themselves crazy, they are the "Cameron Crazies".

  • The Cameron Crazies invented the "air ball" chant

  • Students camp out in tents outside of the arena in what they have dubbed as "Krzyzewskiville" in order to get prime spots in line for game day

  • The Cameron Crazies are known for their incredibly loud student section, in fact they've been measured to reach 121.3 dB which is louder than a jackhammer, in a large echoing arena

  • Roy Williams used to coach for the University of Kansas, after he was done coaching at Kansas he began to coach for UNC. On his first appearance in Cameron, the some of Crazies dressed up as characters from The Wizard of Oz to let Williams know that he wasn't in Kansas anymore.

Watch Out Williamson

Zion Williamson is a true freshman this year playing for Duke. This kid is 6'7 and weighs 285. In a recent interview he said he has gained 100 lbs since his freshman year of high school, and it is all pure strength. He is projected to be the first pick of the draft and is one of the greatest college basketball talents analysts, coaches, players and peers are saying they have seen in some time.

So as you can see, he's really, really good. So, this year the Duke vs UNC rivalry, still hot as ever was happening for the first time this season on Feb. 20 at Cameron. The highest ticket sold for around $10,000. That is Super Bowl pricing!!!! But something truly crazy happened in the first possession of the game, and I'm not talking about the Cameron Crazies.....

Isn't that crazy???? This will definitely go down as a bizarre moment in history for Cameron Indoor Stadium. I'm wishing Williamson a speedy and healthy recovery and hope to see him play again soon!

That's all for Stadium Tour #3, see ya next time!
